Suzuki Motor Corporation has begun testing a special fuel, Hyperfuels PurFuelsTM, with which to reduce CO2 emissions by 30 percent compared to E10 fuels (which contain up to 10 percent ethanol in addition to gasoline).
Suzuki’s “eco” outboard fuel
These tests began in the U.S. at the urging of NMMA, the National Marine Manufacturers Association, a boating trade association in the U.S.
NMMA has launched an initiative to promote the adoption of sustainable fuels for engines, contributing to progressive decarbonization in recreational boating as well.
What this special fuel looks like
The Suzuki Marine USA Technical Center, located in Tampa, Florida, quite a test bed talking about outboard engines, has begun experimental use of Hyperfuels PurFuelsTM.
This fuel is created by refining waste cooking oil, plant materials and more to arrive at a product that can replace gasoline without having to make any kind of modifications to the engine.
All while allowing up to a 30 percent reduction in emissions.
The prerogative of Hyperfuels PurFuelsTM is, indeed, that it can be used directly, avoiding the need for adaptation work on the engine.
Once ready, then, this fuel can be used in place of regular gasoline to power all existing Suzuki outboards.
Once the trial is over, Suzuki in collaboration with NMMA and the other entities participating in the project wants to promote the spread of a distribution network for this fuel in the marinas of the Florida Panhandle, starting with a municipal marina in Panama City (also in Florida) and then planning a gradual spread of the fuel to other marinas in the state.
The big goals
A project, this one, that is part of a much broader context.
The road is the “Suzuki environmental Vision 2050,” an environmental plan launched by Suzuki in 2020, which calls for a 90 percent reduction in CO2 emissions from its engines by the year 2050.You might be interested in: https://www.barcheamotore.com/fuoribordo-piu-potenti/
