Today BCool Engineering explains how to have an integrated system for the whole boat. Onboard comfort also comes from the right temperature according to the time and season. And how can it be done to always have the ideal climate in the cabin or salon, in total silence? We asked Gabriele Brivio, sales manager at Bcool Engineering.
BCool Engineering: an integrated system for the whole boat
“Often when our customers come to us, they find it difficult to find an integrated and complete system in terms of both thermo-comfort and energy. At its base, Whisper Power, a brand for which we are the distributor for Italy, markets a zero-emission and very quiet energy system. Basically it is a system of generation, storage (with lithium batteries or different types) and distribution through a large inverter. On the other hand, we have a chiller system, i.e., water chiller for Webasto air conditioning, from the BlueCool series, which we will discuss in a moment.
Returning to the Whisper Power part, related to energy, we have a Piccolo series generator (available from 5 from 15 kWA), which charges the batteries through a Super charger DC Cube 24 V/150 amp charger (quantity of battery chargers sized to a lithium battery system).
This makes it possible to keep all the energy in storage to be distributed later during the course of the day. The large inverter thus allows 230 v to be given at a stable 50 HZ. The goal is to be able to give all utilities 230 volts, including the air conditioning system with zero emissions without vibration and noise.
This makes a difference especially at night, when silence on board is especially appreciated. To conclude, Webasto’s BlueCool V-Series system has a variable-speed compressor that can manage the on-board temperature through its fan coils and follow the temperature curve. It is thus able to intervene directly at the time of need, when the heat load becomes higher. In the case of a 15- to 18-meter boat, we are around 50,000 BTUs (British Thermal Units) of power.”
