Beneteau Swift Trawler 35It is easy tosay “the boat is the best place to be in isolation.” On the one hand it is true, few human contacts, clean air, controlled spaces. But for virus-, mold- and bacteria-proof “self-isolation,” the ultimate solution is ozone sanitization of interiors. There are two options: you can rely on specialized companies to come on board with their own workers for sanitization, or you can provide it yourself by equipping yourself with a portable breadmaker.

Cleaning and sanitizing the boat

With professionals

Should you wish to commission the work from professionals, there are entities dedicated to the boat world, such as Bioyacht(www.bioyacht.it). Virus-proof sanitation occurs in three steps: the on-board inspection, where all dirt and deposits of dust, pollen, and viruses in every ventilation duct of your boat are detected by sophisticated equipment; The removal and suction from the aeration system of any impurities with special systems and professional vacuum cleaners; finally, the ozone sanitization, made with powerful generators that disinfect the boat air by removing viruses, bacteria and any pathogens.

Do-it-yourself sanitization solutions

If, on the other hand, you are a do-it-yourselfer, there are many “portable” ozone generator solutions on the market, such as those offered by O3 Sanity System(www.sanitysystem.it), a company specializing in sanitization in the medical field (and therefore more than reliable).

The models Sany-Car (ideal for small rooms, up to a volume of 50 cubic meters of air) and Sany-Med 80 (80 cubic meters, ideal for larger boats) are quiet, consume little power, and perform their function in a variable time (depending on the program chosen) between 20 minutes and an hour.

You simply connect the sanitizer to the electricity supply, leave it in the square after closing all airways tightly and wait for the reset time. All you then have to do is get back in, open hatches and portholes and let some air circulate and you will be aboard a virus-proof boat.

Plenty of portable ozone generators can be found online, but when it comes to health and safety, we recommend that you choose certified, medically derived products or rely on serious professionals.
