The HP SCA DOUBLE series consists of two independent desalinators set up in the same box and is designed to optimize on-board energy absorption while responding to peak drinking water consumption.

“The new HP SCA DOUBLE series was created to reduce the size of desalinators as much as possible,” explains Gianni Zucco, of HP Watermakers. Signed then by a brand of excellence like HP Watermakers, these innovative models are even more compact without sacrificing efficiency.

In addition, these desalinators, thanks to the complete automation provided by the RP Tronic system, offer a significant advantage over manual ones, eliminating the need for continuous pressure adjustments in the engine room to adjust to fluctuations in salinity and water temperature, but most importantly, performing an effective rinse at the end of the cycle with the valve open, thus making periodic chemical flushing of the membranes unnecessary.

How HP Watermakers works

“For the automatic term to be truly such, various shrewdnesses are required even during installation: with the new HP SCA DOUBLE series we have given the answer that shipyards and shipowners have been waiting for,” adds Zucco. The innovation is in the decision to remove the low-pressure pumps that bring seawater to the desalinator, reducing the footprint by one-third, and bring them close to the sea intakes, making the desalinator supply much smoother. “This ensures a more continuous incoming flow by avoiding the difficulties of filling the long connecting pipes, which, with a path that is not always smooth, lead to the creation of air bubbles that block the desalinator. This is a major problem on fast boats, but it also gives designers more freedom in choosing where to install the sea intakes.”

Producing water on board is easier, faster and safer

The HP SCA DOUBLE series consists of five models with a freshwater output from 240 l/h to 1,200 l/h. On display at METSTRADE was the HP SCA DOUBLE 440 (the others are the 320, 540, 660, and 880), the only one in the range to mount the membranes inside the box, while all the others have them separate and yards can install them where they see fit.
