by Sea Time – Marine Watches

The Big Bang Unico Teak Italia Independent reinterprets the style codes of sailing in a watchmaking style.

From Agneta to Extra Beat, from Azzurra to Stealth. These are boats whose history is closely tied to lawyer Gianni Agnelli, a sailing enthusiast and a visionary in the field of boats. A vision that, today, is used by Lapo Elkann and re-proposed in a timepiece designed in collaboration with Hublot.

«Thanks to my grandfather Gianni, I started very young a love story with incredible boats which I was lucky to sail on. Each of them is tied to a special memory but Stealth has a special place and with her load of very innovative technological content for that time (it was the ’90s), was a precious source of inspiration for developing an unconventional watch» explains Elkann.

Hublot
The Big Bang Unico Italia Independent from Hublot combines high-tech materials, such as carbon, and refined wood essences like teak. A match that looks at the sailing world. The chronograph features a 45mm King Gold case. Waterproof up to 100 meters, it costs 23.800 euros*. *Official price 09/2019

With a production limited to 100 pieces, the Big Bang Unico Teak Italia Independent emphasizes the elegant contrast between the teak and carbon bezel details. The 45mm case is made of polished and microblasted King Gold, a unique alloy of gold and platinum.

The references to the world of the sea are further revived by the combination with a strap made from a real sail in carbon fiber and kevlar stitched on black rubber with stitching of the same hue. Moreover, the Big Bang Unico Teak Italia Independent features a UNICO HUN 1242 chronograph flyback movement with a power reserve of 72 hours. It’s a masterpiece of mechanics whose details can be found thanks to the skeleton case.
