When it comes to maxi-ribs, one should never think one has seen it all. In fact, in this particular segment, Italian shipbuilding has shown us many, indeed many, times that it can amaze. The new 1500 is undoubtedly a dream boat. 15 meters in length, infinite space on board, a marine hull and the quality of a company, Scanner Marine, that designs and builds its hulls entirely in Italy. A nice guarantee, in short, on the final product.

Here we are, then, boarding the Envy 1500 Scanner, big brother of the Envy 1400 (click qere), which had already demonstrated remarkable qualities with both outboard and inboard motorization. The focus is on deck livability, which is, indeed, XL. Ample storage space starting with the aft sundeck that hides not one but two lockers underneath, both accessible by an electric system. Ahead is a dining area with the galley immediately abreast, which can be equipped with a griddle, grill, sinks, refrigerator and icemaker. This area, as well as the helm station, is protected by a hard-top that also integrates the windshield. At the base of the latter, forward, we find a sundeck.

Scanner’s inflatable boats are also recognizable by their bows, high above the water, which, on the one hand, creates a profile suitable for the formed sea and, on the other hand, allows for maximizing interior volume since the deck plan at the front of the hull is almost flush with the gunwale. Let’s talk about the interior: volume in the bow for a double bed that can become a separate cabin, a double berth in the stern, and the bathroom that can have a separate stall.

Dinghy motorization

Propulsion-wise, there is ample choice: the model we got on had two 600-horsepower outboards from Mercury, two Verado V12s. We found it to be a very good compromise between habitability and performance since it allows you to enjoy the space of a sort of aft platform, despite the fact that the two engines are not exactly tiny, on the contrary. Even in the middle there was a space for an electric gangway, which is very useful for simplifying boarding and disembarking.
