Couches and lounge area aft, bowrider bow, top speed of 45 knots, and tracks for moving ashore. No, it’s not a vehicle out of a movie but it is one of the latest amphibious platforms developed by Iguana Yachts, already talked about with its previous Iguana Foiler, an amphibious hull capable of flying on foil (we tell you about it here). Now, building on the success of its predecessor, the French shipyard is back with a new amphibian, the Iguana Bow Rider, a 9.2-meter with a layout dedicated to maximum conviviality and always capable of moving in the water as well as on land.
Iguana Bow Rider
The track + outboard combination is not exactly the classic formula of contemporary yachting, but it certainly meets a need, niche perhaps, but still existing. And, Iguana, offers a not inconsiderable range of options. So with the Bow Rider he adds a new model and a new option: up to 600 outboard horsepower provides the power needed to glide at 45 knots while, via direct drive to the tracks, 6.5 km/h can be achieved on land. But it is the new deck configuration that distinguishes the Bow Rider from previous models, offering a new layout devoted entirely to conviviality.
Iguana Bow Rider – Deck
With the new Bow Rider the goal is almost simple, to offer a hull intended to maximize deck space with a view to enhancing convivial experiences. Objective to which Iguana responds through a solution, precisely, of bow rider setting, and therefore with convivial area recessed below than the deck level of the forward volumes. Here, in fact, the new Iguana offers a U-shaped sofa solution capable of creating a convivial space overlooking, however, with a trump card. In fact, the conformation of the sofa, which is closer to a V-shaped solution than a U-shaped one, makes the two “long” components of the sofa usable also as sundecks, thus improving the versatility of the forward space.
The music does not change in the aft spaces, where, just beyond the two steps leading to the water, the cockpit comes to life, furnished with a C-shaped sofa that spans the entire volume, offering a second area that lends itself well to socializing. Just beyond, two ergonomic chairs serve the wheelhouse, which in turn is protected by a full-beam windshield. The central glazed part, in this case, is also the walkway to the bow. Optional, however, are the hard-top or folding bimini solutions.
Motorization and Performance
Leaving aside the crawler component, which is still capable of propelling the boat at 6.5 km/h, the new Iguana will be powered through dual outboard solutions, with maximum powers of 600 total horsepower, a solution with which it will be able to reach 45 knots of top speed. In terms of range, however, fuel will be provided by a pair of 250-liter tanks, for 500 liters total embarkable capacity.
