Surprise, Galeon Yachts managed to bring its latest creation to the latest Cannes Boat Show: the 430 EXP. We could call it a houseboat, but from the name used by the shipyard, reminiscent of the Explorer, the intent seems to be to give owners a boat for vacations on the road, or in this case…on the sea!

Galeon 430 EXP

The first thing that strikes one is the aesthetics. To call 430 EXP “monolithic” is reductive, so much so that it looks as if it were carved from a parallelepiped. But the result is to exploit every possible inch in the three dimensions, carving out space and volume as on superyachts. The hull is less than 12 meters long, but the maximum width of the boat is more than 4.5 meters, rising to 6.5 with the terraces open. Another peculiarity since, in addition to the width, they also make use of so much length, going so far as to create two balconies at the superstructure. After all, Galeon is particularly creative when it comes to solutions of this kind, as we have seen just in its big sister 620 Fly (click here for video and price).

If you are interested in Galeon models, by the way, the Italian reference is. Pagliarini Group, a historical name in boating in the Peninsula that represents in Italy a large number of brands including, precisely, Galeon Yachts. For contacts and more information, click here.

The layout

The salon is fully glazed and can be opened on three sides, creating a single space with the C-shaped sofa in the cockpit that can be oriented aft at will, since it is mounted on a turntable. This further projects the on-board spaces seaward.

In the bow…well, there is practically nothing! Looking at the interior layout, it actually looks like an RV. To take advantage of every meter on the length, the command post is carried far forward, leaving room only for a forward-facing sofa on what could almost be called a square bow.

There is no shortage of flybridge with an open-air helm station, large sundeck and another C-shaped settee with folding table. Below deck, the master cabin occupies all the ample forward volume provided by these stubby geometries, while there is a guest cabin on the port side and a bathroom with separate shower stall and a utility room for storage or washing machine on the starboard side.

Propulsion

Although most explorers use semi-planing hulls, for maximum efficiency on long displacement runs and the ability to still reach high speeds, this 430 EXP uses a V-shaped planing hull. It is also interesting to note two large stabilizer fins along the hull. Propulsion is by a pair of 480-hp diesel inboards each with traditional shaftline transmission.
