When we think of paradise islands in the world, we too often forget that some of the most beautiful ones we have here. For 2022, however, it is not just our “biased” viewpoint that will take an Italian island to the roof of the world. It is, in fact, an American survey by the renowned Travel+Leisure magazine that crowned Ischia as the best island in the world. Let’s see why.

Ischia, the world’s best island in 2022

Maldives? Hawaii? Greece? No, the best island in the world in 2022 is Ischia. This is what emerged from the special ranking compiled by the American magazine Travel+Leisure, which each year entrusts its readers with the arduous task of determining which are the most must-see destinations around the globe. A survey involving millions and millions of people, and in the category of “The Best 25 Islands in the World,” the Bay of Naples island triumphed, ahead of such high-sounding names as Bali, Fiji and Galapagos. In short, the small villages mille culure and the people who live in them have bewitched everyone. And so, even a bit by surprise, here is Ischia on the roof of the world. Also turning on the spotlight was My Brilliant Friend, an HBO series adapted from Elena Ferrante’s novel L’amica geniale, some scenes of which were filmed right on the island. And so, among pristine beaches, volcanic phenomena and local culture, Ischia has carved out a special place in the hearts of travelers. An international, particularly American, audience now has its eyes on this Mediterranean gem.
