Torqeedo Italy is now a reality! The company, at the top of the electric mobility market on water, has decided to structure a direct distribution in the peninsula.

Torqeedo will sell directly in Italy

Electric mobility in Italy is a hot topic on both land and sea. Scooters and electric cars are the first sign of a change in mentality that is affecting our country. Torqeedo for its part is the market leader in waterborne electric mobility. Founded in 2005 in Starnberg, the company develops and manufactures electric and hybrid motors from 0.5 to 100 kW for commercial applications and recreational uses.

A heritage of 950,000 boats, 8,000 km of coastline and a tradition for the sea thousands of years old. With these characteristics, combined with the development that electric mobility is having, Italy has been put in the crosshairs of the Torqeedo company. From sales to service for the full range of Torqeedo products and systems, it will all be handled directly. Starting from small lightweight outboards to fully integrated Deep Blue propulsion systems.

Gennaro Giliberti, who previously managed project sales and key accounts for Italy, will now add retail sales to his responsibilities. Giliberti noted that Italy is one of the most important markets globally for boating, having at its disposal more than 7,500 kilometers of coastline and a fleet of more than 950,000 boats.

“In Italy there is rapidly growing acceptance of electric mobility, both on the road and on waterways,” explains Gennaro Giliberti, sales manager and key account for Italy. “and there is a perceived shift in thinking, both politically and socially. Some of Italy’s inland lakes and urban waterways, such as Venice, are taking steps to reduce air and water pollution by switching to electric and hybrid boats.”

Torqeedo and “green” boating in Italy

Italy is the seventh country to have a Torqeedo direct distribution office. The company also has offices in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Thailand and the United States.
