The good news comes from Marina di Loano which was chosen in the small number of the ten most beautiful marinas in the world in the 2019 ranking of the authoritative Yachting Pages. New things instead from Genoa where the controversy rages over the fate of the New Dockyard, the one where the Boat Show is held.
The awards and the novelties of Loano
Let’s start with the good news, that of the Marina of Loano with its 900 berths from 6 to 80 meters and a real “citadel” of the port, continues to collect awards, acclaim, and certificates of merit. In addition to the aforementioned certificate of excellence from Yachting Pages, the Marina of Loano has obtained one of the most rigorous certifications of port excellence from RINA. The certification is called MaRINA Excellence 24 Plus and to obtain it you must have the requirements of a panel of all the main parameters that make a marina excellent.
The western port of Liguria has passed all the tests and can now boast of this coveted award. Again by RINA, Marina di Loano was also the first in Italy to receive environmental recognition, the “Green” certification. For the season, the structures on land are being expanded, new restaurants are added to those existing in what is called a “food hall”, a new school for nautical license and the expansion of the ship chandler complete the offer. The figures for 2018 final in Loano are all with a plus sign: + 15% of boats at berth, + 12% of boats in transit compared to 2017.
The controversy over the Genoese dock: what will happen?
The main subject that won the renovation works and the use of the area of the current dock where the Genoa Boat Show takes place, Amico & Co., has just presented a plan that according to him: “Thanks to a series of investments that would affect the area where every year takes place the Salone Nautico, developing the potential shipbuilding and tourism, Genoa can become a real international hub for megayachts such as La Ciotat in France or Barcelona.
Specifically with regard to the dock, which as we will see is the reason for the dispute, says: “It ‘s planned an investment of up to 5 million that in a first phase would create new structures at sea and improve those currently existing, while in a second phase would proceed with the creation of infrastructure on land that can offer a reception worthy of Genoa, for short or long periods“..
The TAR can trigger the chaos that already exists: 180 yachtsmen thrown out
Are you all right? Not at all! There is a question mark as big as a house to everything about the dock, which is sparking off fierce controversy. On the concession that provides for the allocation of 60% of the dock for 20 years to Amico and only 40% and for 4 years to the Boat Shows, hangs an appeal to the judiciary, which contrasts Amico & Co. to UCINA (organizer of the Boat Show). For now, those who have gone in the way are 180 other yachtsmen who in September 2018 have lost their berths.
Everything is now in the hands of the Tar that on 27 March must express itself after the appeal presented by Ucina. The paradox is that ifthe TAR were also right to Ucina’s concession of four years decadrebband and therefore we would return to a phase of chaos.
