Italmar Cabin 28

The design is typical of semi-cabin cruisers, with tall bulwarks and a massive bow to accommodate the cabin below deck, all softened by the soft lines typical of the shipyard. The bridge extends almost to the full beam, with two narrow walkways on either side, however passable when mooring or to reach the bow sundeck, arranged on the deckhouse. The cockpit is large and the space well managed: there is plenty of free floor area to walk on, giving livability to the whole space.

Lots of sofas to relax on, creating more of a social area, both aft and behind the bridge, protected by the fiberglass roll bar and the awning it supports. Once open also, the entire command post can be completely enclosed by transparent curtains, which close the spaces between the windshield and awning, going to create a true cabin, allowing the boat to be used in all conditions. There is no shortage of a small outdoor kitchen and a very large locker under the dunnage, which is really convenient.

But it would not be a true cabin cruiser without a generous below-deck deck, which houses, in addition to the owner’s cabin set forward with a generous and well-lit bed, a bathroom, separate and lighted, and a second cabin, separated and ventilated by a double porthole.

It is astonishing how much height you are able to take advantage of, immediately highlighted by the no less than 4 steps that are used to reach the floor. Even the second cabin, usually much sacrificed when it comes to height, since it is located below the cockpit deck, maintains good livability, making it ideal, if not for a couple of adults, certainly as a children’s bedroom. On the left then you cannot notice an interior galley with hotplates and sink, certainly a peculiar choice on this size, but one that demonstrates the ability to take advantage of the space and configuration that the yard offers.

Motorization and price

Italmar Cabin 28 is a boat that can be powered outboard, either with a single engine or a pair, from 300 to 500 hp. In keeping with the shipyard’s tradition, Italmar always offers rich equipment at a starting price of €84,900 + VAT, going up to a version with a pair of Suzuki 200 hp, electronic, at €140.00, VAT included. Competitive figures, making it an attractive alternative for this size.
