Who is the leading manufacturer of recreational inflatable boats in the world? Italy is the world’s leading exporter of inflatable boats. Boating is one of the driving sectors of Italy’s GDP, and small-scale boating, in this case inflatable boats, is no exception: they are the third largest sector by export value in the Italian boating industry. According to the latest findings (source: ICOMIA) in 2018, Italy exported recreational inflatable boats with a total value of $58.2 million, 12.3 percent of the world market. Top 5 Italian export markets are France (60.9 percent), Spain (12.7 percent), Croatia (3.4 percent), the Netherlands (3.0 percent) and Australia (2.3 percent).

CHINA, A FICTITIOUS “FIRST”

According to export data, the top exporting country is China, with 33.5 percent. However, it should be pointed out that this commodity item also counts toy dinghies, for which China has the largest market share. And if you look at quality and appeal, Italy is confirmed as the world leader!

12% ITALY

The largest export markets for Italian inflatable boats are, in order, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Croatia and Australia.

6% UKRAINE

It is a growing producer that has improved by two positions in one year.

33.6 % CHINA

China’s apparently largest share is due to the huge production of… toy dinghies!
