Abayachting, a well-known maritime brokerage firm, has been working in the country for more than ten years. Campania has always been a region rich in both used boats for sale and new buyers who then keep the boat locally. Despite the volumes, a real Abayachting branch had never been opened, at least until now!

Used boats, Abayachting “lands” in Campania

Decisive was a meeting during the 2020 Genoa Boat Show with Paolo Bove and Michele Borrelli, who are the partners of Orange Yacht, a company that has been operating for years in and around Naples.

As the saying goes, one thing leads to another, and in March 2021 the office in Torre Annunziata was finally opened right inside the Marina.

An interview with the managers of Abayachting’s Campania branch

Activities in the area started immediately, including participation in the 2020 and 2021 editions of the Salerno Boat Show, where a dedicated booth and a display of used boats available in the area were set up. Here is what Paolo Bove and Michele Borrelli told us.

Paul, how and when did you meet Abayachting?

About a year ago a client of mine had decided to purchase a major powerboat, and he asked me to assist him during the visit-experience-delivery process. The boat was docked in Taranto, and during the first visit I had the opportunity to meet Gerri Capozza, who I later found out was the Abayachting manager for the entire Adriatic.

What was the reason that struck you the most?

Michele and I have been working in the industry for quite some time, both selling new boats and managing and garaging for some of our loyal customers. I was amazed by the total management of every operation: Gerri knew the boat perfectly and had total control of all the operations done and those to be done for the continuation of the negotiation. The main aspect was the approach and especially the relationship with customers: clear, concrete, and decisive.

What were the next steps?

I expressed my interest in working with Abayachting, and Gerri arranged a meeting at the Genoa Boat Show with Luca Boltri and Luca Bosazzi. When the vision is the same, then it’s really easy to find an understanding, and-here we are!

Michele, how would you like to describe these first months of your experience in Abayachting?

I would say exhausting and engaging (laughs). Like all new adventures, it is not easy to understand the mechanics. And then it is not easy to keep up with the pace of initiatives and news that come from headquarters every month. Perhaps the inspiring part, though, is this: Abayachting is a company that is never standing still, that pays special attention to internal training, and that has a focus on each and every step.

How were the results?

Interesting: accustomed to a mostly local market, we found ourselves dealing with clients from all over Italy and several foreign clients, who are not often seen in Campania. We have been able to complete quite complex operations: for example, we have just organized the transport of a boat that will go to Lithuania, and two “important” boats sold in Lignano and Loano are on their way, which will remain in the area and which we will personally take care of.

Goals for the near future?

Our main extraction comes from motor boats, and in fact we are doing quite well. Through in-house training we are quickly catching up with the knowledge to manage and be prepared on sailboats as well. A few transactions have already gone through, so I would say the path is the right one. I can say that powerboats and sailboats have more in common than you might imagine, so much so that it is not that unusual to have customers who wish to change from one type to another, and vice versa.

The Abayachting office is located in Torre Annunziata, Terragneta Street no. 72. Paul and Michael are waiting for you.
