Al Cannes Boat Show 2024 the shipyard Magazzù will present the new flagship of their dinghy fleet. A 16.7-meter all-around walkaround, available in two versions:

  1. MX-16, with three Mercury outboards totaling 1800 horsepower, for the pursuit of maximum speed (reported 50 knots) and fun
  2. M-16, Volvo Penta inboard with IPS 800, to optimize efficiency and range on long runs.

As already seen in other models, on the outboard version there is the possibility of literally “hiding” the engines under a sundeck that goes to increase the available surfaces on board and allows passengers to safely enjoy the aft area.
Looking at the design, it seems that the two versions also differ in the hull.
The outboard version will in fact have a double step, to optimize speed and efficiency, while no details have been disclosed regarding the homologous inboard version, which will probably adopt more classic solutions to accommodate IPS technology. A distinctive feature of this walkaround is definitely the polyethylene-filled D-shape tubing, also a trend increasingly explored on high-end models.
A solution derived from work vehicles, it has two advantages:

  • eliminate the puncture problem
  • “halving” the footprint of the tubular, allowing for much larger interior volumes

Space that is exploited to make this model an effective walkaround, with wide walkways running the full length from stern to bow.
In addition, by removing the constraints on the classic cylindrical shape of the tubular, Magazzù has taken advantage of this feature to give an original shape to the gunwale, lowering it at the portholes below the console, bringing more light to the interior cabin and making the deck a true terrace on the sea.
It only remains to be seen how this opening will perform under the spray of a formed sea.

Below deck, on both versions, the layout includes two double cabins, a convertible dinette and two separate bathrooms, while the outboard version, in the space “freed” from the engine room, gives the opportunity to add a third aft cabin for the sailor.
After Cannes they will be displayed for presentation to the Italian public at the Genoa Boat Show, scheduled for September 19-24, 2024.
These events represent an unmissable opportunity to admire the new model up close and discover all its extraordinary features. To contact the site, click here.
