Ecobonus for boat engines kicks off. The Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy has indicated the deadlines and procedures for submitting of applications to access benefits for the replacement and scrapping of endothermic boat engines, powered by fossil fuels, with electric motors.
Beginning April 8 and ending May 8 (click here to apply) those interested will be able to apply through the online application window that will be set up by Invitalia, the entity that will handle applications on behalf of the ministry.
The measure had been launched by a decree issued by Minister Adolfo Urso last Sept. 5 in cooperation with the Ministries of Environment and Energy Security, Infrastructure and Transportation, and Economy and Finance.
The goal is to encourage the ecological transition in recreational boating as well through the replacement and scrapping of traditional (gasoline and diesel) boat engines with electric ones, while also supporting the purchase of related batteries.
There are 3 million euros in the field, the grant is non-repayable and covers up to 50 percent of eligible expenses with a ceiling of 8,000 euros in case the request comes from an individual and up to 50,000 euros in case of a company.
Only one application for the facility may be submitted, which may be for the purchase of up to two electric motors if the applicant is an individual, and multiple motors if the applicant is an enterprise that owns recreational craft used for commercial, sporting or social purposes.
How much is the contribution worth
The subsidy for each outboard electric motor with an integrated battery power of not less than 0.5 Kw and up to 12 Kw is 2,000 euros, and for outboard motors with an external battery, inboard, inboard-outboard or propulsion POD is 10,000 euros.
