We are relaunching the initiative of our colleagues at the Journal of Sailing:

Thank you for so many joining the Medplastic
project, the initiative we wanted to launch to do our part in safeguarding the Mediterranean. So many of you have collected testimonies, acted firsthand by picking up plastic in the sea, reported. And you are continuing to do so (by the way: if you would like to become a testimonial and receive a free Medplastic sticker to put on your boat, send an email to savethemed@gmail.com with your shipping address and the name of your boat). One of the hot spots of the project is the No Plastic Instagram contest. Below we explain how it works, in the meantime we tell you that one more motivation to participate is the prizes up for grabs.

YOU CAN WIN AN ORIGINAL SCULPTURE…

At the TAG Heuer VELAFestival 2019 we will award prizes for the best photos you have sent us: you can win one of Luca’s beautiful sculptures, aka Goodfishes Recyclingart(www.goodfishes.it), made using only garbage found in the sea and on beaches.

… OR AN “ECO” SET FOR YOUR CHILDREN’S BABY FOOD
Or one of the 100% eco-friendly baby food sets made by Ekoala(www.ekoala.eu): eKeat is made entirely of BIOplastic, so it contains no hazardous substances found in many traditional plastics (BPA, phthalates or others) that could, if released in food, be assimilated by your little ones. It comes from renewable resources and is 100% biodegradable. You can also use it as often as you like, reducing the waste load we put into our environment.

This, and more you can win by entering Medplastic’s “No Plastic” contest-here’s how you have to do it.

Time to Take Action is the slogan of Medplastic, the Sail Newspaper’s new project to safeguard the Mediterranean. Join the MedPlastic Team Facebook group, participate in the NO Plastic Instagram contest, and learn more about medplastic.org

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE INSTAGRAM CONTEST “NO PLASTIC”

1. Starting June 1, take a photo (or record a video) every time you see, collect or prevent litter at sea (sticking to the theme: Time to take Action)

2. Like Giornale della Vela on Instagram and Facebook and send it to the @giornaledellavela inbox on Instagram (or post it on the MedPlastic Team Facebook group): remember to include where and when it was taken and hashtag #MedPlastic

3. The GdV will republish it and the photo that takes the most votes over the year will be the winner (with awards at VELAFestival 2019)

THE SPIRIT OF MEDPLASTIC
Thanks also to all the active users of the Medplastic Group, who share daily insights, useful news, decalogues, ideas, and alternative zero-impact products. This must be the spirit of Medplastic. The health of the Mediterranean (and ours) depends on ourselves. We are working hard, to be a sounding board and convey on our channels a huge problem. A problem to which we can, and must, find a solution quickly. Those who have already started/structured projects to propose to us, please send an email to savethemed@gmail.com
