It is time for Miami Boat Show 2024 (Feb. 14 to Feb. 18) in Florida. In the American city where the world’s most beautiful boats parade daily, a boat show can only showcase the best of international shipbuilding.
We have selected five very interesting hulls debuting in Florida in 2024 from 8 to 30 meters.
The year was 1874 when a young man named Christopher Columbus Smith built a wooden barge in a cabin in Algonac, Michigan. A shipyard was born then that, today, in 2024 is one of the symbols of star-studded boating. To celebrate these 150 years, Chris Craft chooses discretion by going for a revamp of the 27 Launch, the oldest and most classic model in the range. A choice of heart made while respecting the brand’s background despite the fact that today the most popular Chris Craft series is the Catalina series, the Center consoles with outboards. Of course, the 150th edition is special with a number of reminders of tradition. And in case you forget, all you have to do is turn on the chartplotter to see a special 150th anniversary welcome screen.
Pursuit also chose the Miami Boat Show for its newest Pursuit DC 306. Here again we are talking about a hull “with pedigree” because its setup stems from the DC 295, one of Pursuit’s most popular boats. Cruising or fishing? You can do as you wish. The forward seating is ideal for relaxing in good weather, and the large windshield (with central opening) will protect you when bad weather arrives. The layout is designed to give maximum freedom of movement when fishing without forgetting the breaks in between.
The fame of the
Boston Whaler
is international, and even here in Italy ports are populated with models like the 345 Conquest, the sporty all-weather fisherman that also winks at cruising. To each his own. A year after this model went out of production, Boston announces its heir: the 365 Conquest. This hull draws heavily on the Conquest 405 and has a large wraparound windshield, plenty of storage space, whether you are going fishing or relaxing. Pushing it at 45 knots, of course, are Mercury outboards: specifically 3 Mercury Verado 400-horsepower V10s.
Cruising, today, is (also) outboard, and an interesting model in this regard debuts in Miami: the new Galeon 435 GTO. To the propulsion given by three
600-horsepower Mercury Verado V12s
(1,800 total hp) are also added, however, glazing everywhere, including on the folding bulwarks. In short, a modern performance cruiser with a racy look despite its volumes and with room to eat with family and friends without fear of being cramped. Up to four (adult) people can then sleep below deck.
Let’s get out of the view of the fishing boat, small cruiser or chic dayboat. Here we are talking about a stellar debut of what is
the world’s largest company in yacht manufacturing
: Azimut Benetti. At this show away from home waters, the shipyard debuts the new flagship of the highly successful Magellan range, the classy globetrotters according to Azimut. Back in 2020, we announced to you how the new Magellan 30 would redefine the standard of long-range luxury cruising. Designed by American Ken Freivokh, Magellan 30M has a vertical bow, a very massive broadside and protected walkways. Contact with the outdoors, however, is provided by more than 70 square meters of glass windows. A globetrotter is very much experienced in the interiors, curated by architect and designer Vincenzo De Cotiis. For long sailings, as usual, we find the Dual Mode hull, designed by P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture & Azimut R&D Department to combine the comfort of displacement on transfers with faster speeds when needed.
Prominent among the Italian shipyards at the event are models such as the Itama 62RS or the Fiart Seawalker 39, in the U.S. Bespoke version with three outboard engines and blue “Aston Martin Caribbean Pearl” paint job, a nice treat for Florida. Also making its overseas debut in America is the new Azimut 72.
