Airing from 1984 to 1989 (’86-92 in Italy), Miami Vice was one of the most successful television series of the 1980s, with stratospheric budgets (1.3 million per episode) and iconic media. These include, of course, the Wellcraft Scarab 38KV, the boat of Don Johnson (Sonny Crockett in the series). And yes, it is now for sale. Not a replica, or a duplicate taken from the set, but the original, No. 1 used, complete with Universal Studios certification. For those interested, find the ad here: yachtcreators.com

Wellcraft Scarab 38KV

Abandoning the hype Hollywood and leaving Miami Vice behind, it is still a classic, A cult boat, symbol not only of the show, but of the 1980s in general. The dream of an entire generation, one only has to look at its lines, interior, or even just the pastels of its livery to understand its success. Because it is undeniable, the Scarab 38KV was the ideal of powerboat for at least a decade, so much so that Wellcraft’s revenues increased by 21 percent in a single year…

But speaking of the boat itself, it is a 38KV in perfect condition, refitted a year ago down to the smallest detail. A focus that touched everything: interior, exterior, livery, graphics, systems, engines and Kevlar-reinforced hull. The result? A missile still capable of speeds of 70 knots.

And, if iconic status and performance were not enough, it is complete with every amenity such a muscle-boat can offer. In the cockpit we find a decidedly sporty layout, namely double wraparound seats, full wheelhouse and recessed aft sofa to protect every passenger even at the insane speeds reached. But below deck the music changes, offering space and comfort that exteriors definitely do not suggest. Complete with salon, galley, services and double cabin, it offers everything needed to have fun at sea, even extending one’s outings well beyond the daily joyride.
