Palumbo Superyachts is the nautical division of the Palumbo Group, a nautical giant with all-round know-how: building, repairing and refitting super yachts throughout the Mediterranean where there are as many as 5 shipyards. It will be Palumbo Superyachts Savona, if there are no further appeals from competitors, that will win a 20-year concession for the shipyards of the bankrupt Mondomarine. The concession was awarded by the Port System Authority’s Management Committee, which awarded the Neapolitan company the concession after reviewing and evaluating the other bids submitted, from Rodriguez Yachts Italy and Monaco Marine Italia. There may at this point be a glimpse of the end of the tunnel for Mondomarine workers, about 60 in number, who have been out of work since the bankruptcy. Palumbo Group boasts five shipyards in the Mediterranean and manages internationally renowned brands such as Isa, Columbus, Mondomarine and PSY Refit.
With this decision another piece of the “post-Mondomarine” may fall into place. It is recent news of the restart of the Pisa Shipyards, formerly Mondomarine purchased by a Monegasque group.
