Is it possible to square the circle? Is it possible to have a dinghy where coexisting, on deck, the livability of an open and, inside, the large spaces of a mega rib cabin cruiser? Certainly New Jolly Prince 50 comes very close, a “dinghy “of more than 15 meters in length that we could call the perfect sport coupe: fast, marine but also very livable.

New Jolly Prince 50

Aft she has no less than four 400-hp Verado V10 Mercury engines with which she can reach 52 knots, as we experienced during our test. The deck layout has a double access from the stern: starting from the two large planks leading to the central dinette that seats up to 10 people with the fixed, super-sturdy table with folding doors.

Watch the preview video here:

In the bow, second living area: here the table lowers and becomes a large sundeck. Then the surprise: the bow hatch (on the forward side of the helm console) opens and there is direct access below deck. There are then two entrances, as are the cabins: the owner’s cabin, the largest forward, is another aft cabin with smaller volumes but certainly habitable.

In the middle of the boat, as it must be consistently with a boat like this, a large, very high and very habitable bathroom with a shower.

Performance

How fast does this boat go? 52 knots, as we said, is the top speed. Very interesting figure that tells us that it is a boat with a sporty soul. But another number that is very important to understand how the Prince 50 of new Jolly goes is “5.5.”

What is it? This is the average liters/mile consumption of this boat at 30 knots, tested during the transfer to come to the test and certified by the instrumentation: 380 miles, consuming 2,121 liters of gasoline for precisely 5.5 L/mile at 30/31 knots, which is therefore the ideal cruising speed of this boat.
