Comfortable, extremely versatile and spacious, but also capable of considerable performance, with an average cruising speed of 20 knots and a top speed of over 40: the Nimbus T8 is the quintessence of Scandinavian day cruisers, with something extra aboard.

Nimbus T8

From the T-Top in composite materials to the 3-in-1 modular seating, the Sweden shipyard Nimbus has created another little gem, an 8m open cabin cruiser.

Starting from the bow, protected by a chrome pulpit, we immediately find a raised bow sundeck in lounge trim, under which hides a walk-through to the forward cabin. A little further on, after a large cockpit, an anchor locker covered by a wide platform maximizes the forward spaces. Thanks to a large walk-around design, movement on board is extremely generous, providing the T8 with ideal space to relax. No problem, therefore, in having guests or children, but also helpful in facilitating peaceful embarkations and disembarkations.

The helm station is equipped with three plotter options, specifically 7, 9, or 12 inches. The helm seats, on the other hand, can be rotated, thus creating a true aft dining area for five people. Obviously, the table is retractable so as not to clutter up the cockpit. Everything is optionally protected by three T-Top configurations: harbour cover, helm canopy and T-Top large, covering the entire aft area. These are flexible and optimal solutions for maintaining the open-air feeling while sheltering from the most annoying elements.

The aft lounger is then perhaps the gem in terms of furnishings. Capable of accommodating 6 people in its normal version (3 on each side), the sofa is actually equipped with a backrest that can be configured in three different positions, as required. Standard seating (90°), lounge (45°), or pure sunbathing (folded) are thus possible. Finally, again under the aft sofa, there is a cooler locker and various storage compartments. Aft of this is a shower, and additional lockers.

Nimbus T8 – Interior

Below deck, a double cabin is ready should one wish to extend his sea voyages, providing good ventilation, double access, a small washbasin and a toilet. A small cooker is concealed in the bulkhead just to the left of the wheelhouse, just outside the access to the cabin itself.

Nimbus T8 – Propulsion and Hull

As far as the hull is concerned, the Nimbus T8 is developed on a stepped hull to achieve faster planing conditions without compromising safety. The shipyard offers three Mercury engine options: Verado V6, 300 hp; Verado V8, 250 hp; and Verado V8, 300 hp. All in all, an excellent combination guaranteeing excellent performance, with cruising speeds between 20 and 30 knots, and top speeds in excess of 40 knots.

All in all, it would seem that the Scandinavian manufacturer has condensed everything the genre has to offer into its Nimbus T8, and perhaps a little more. In short, a complete and promising (8-metre) boat.
