By now, anything is expected from a motor boat. It is certainly not easy to accommodate every need, but some people try. To be fair, there are also those who, to a certain extent, succeed. The Nimbus W11, imported into Italy by
Bella Center Italy
, is exactly that kind of boat, ready for anything from short trips to long weekends on the water.

Nimbus W11

The W stands for Weekender and is the kind of boat so popular that it has now become the center of gravity of the market. Hulls with cruiser spaces and dayboat performance that combine large deck areas with high-speed hulls and state-of-the-art solutions from bow to stern.

Do you know modern vans like the Volkswagen California? Here, the first time I boarded this boat, I had the feeling that I was facing something similar. A young, dynamic, well-made and finished vehicle. A valuable object, in short, solid and built to make the most of leisure time.

Let’s make it clear right off the bat that Nimbus’ W11 is not a globetrotting cruising boat in the way that, say, the
Nimbus 465 Coupe,
debuting soon. Yet it retains all the
features for short-to-medium range cruising and days at sea: outdoor sunbathing space aft and forward, as well as a sheltered galley and dining area, two cabins below deck, and a bathroom.

Deck

In the version we visited from the stern, the outboards were surrounded by a very large platform that raises and lowers so as to create both a ladder to access the dock and a stairway to the sea.

Versatility of use is at the core, and we start by saying that the boat is, technically, a walkaround, with the ability to walk around the deckhouse and move from bow to stern along the outer passages. In fact, the layout is asymmetrical to the advantage of the starboard walkway. This on the one hand limits mobility on the left one, but at the same time brings in more livable space under the T-top.

From the stern there is a modular area that becomes a solarium by lowering a backrest, or serves as a dining table for eight people, if needed also protectable toward the stern with a folding tarp.

To starboard, a short distance from the dining area, is an outdoor galley with hotplate and sink, served by several lockers. Toward the bow, this section is completed by the helm station, from which there is an excellent view, on the starboard side and a lounge on the port side so that even those who do not steer the boat can be comfortable next to those who helm while sailing.

Nimbus W11 – Underdeck

Going below deck we find two double cabins, one forward and one aft. The forward one is separable with a curtain while the aft one is closed with its own door. If you fear the dark or feeling cramped in the interior of a boat, you can rest easy here.

This is because despite the sporty styling, the volumes inside are anything but cramped and, indeed, are enhanced by the cut-out windows that bring light on board without sacrificing privacy.

Performance

Fuel-efficient cruising speed, pure adrenaline rush speed. That’s the beauty of fairings like the one on the Nimbus W11, Double-step hull that combines stability of form with top seaworthiness. Maximum comfort and economy of sailing occurs at about 25 knots, when the boat glides effortlessly, the engines are not pulled and still have plenty of power to unleash should the need arise.

The W11, like its sisters T11 and C11, even when the wave gets tricky, does not back down and, under ideal conditions, touches peaks over 40 knots. The available engines are designed as follows: two new 400-horsepower Mercury V10s or two classic 300-horsepower Mercury V8 outboards.
