Northman 1050 Trawler [Anteprima]

Ready for its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023 (Sept. 12-17) is a boat that modern and versatile has been able to interpret in a “compact” way the Trawler concept, the ultimate cruising boat. At 9.80 meters long overall and 3.4 wide at the maximum beam, the new Northman 1050 Trawler is a boat capable of finding innovative solutions in a classic segment. Between collapsible bulwarks, expandable cockpit and fly from alternative solutions, the 1050 is in fact a design capable of reinterpreting the Trawler concept, offering an overall design capable of accommodating up to 5 people in small spaces optimized for cruising.

Exterior

Building on a modern reading of the Trawler concept, this new 9.8-meter features lines visibly aimed at improving and maximizing on-board comfort and space. Even looking at the profile of the broadside, in fact, it is already evident how the forward plumage of the deck not only provides greater heights to the interior, but also gives higher broadside to the jaw, thus keeping the deck drier. The same can be read in the in the forward overhang of the fly, employed not only as support for the solar panels on board, but also as rigid protection to the cockpit below.

Coming to the deck layout, in fact, the 1050 adopts and modifies the Trawler tradition, offering an enclosed and protected cockpit while underway, but capable of opening and expanding at any stop. In fact, on occasion, both the transom and the aft broadside can be lowered 90 degrees outward, thus providing a terrace on the water (to starboard) and an extension of the aft cockpit, where the settee can translate onto the newly gained surface, thus expanding the free space in the cockpit. Completing the cockpit is also a sofa against the port broadside.

Proceeding further, the cockpit is directly connected with the covered salon, where in fact the left sofa continues, and a table system allows the two spaces to be connected, making them as if they were a single. To access the forward spaces, a walkway runs along the starboard broadside, providing access to a forward area consisting of a sundeck and access to the fly where, in addition to the wheelhouse, two additional sundecks are located.

Northman 1050 Trawler – Interior

Shifting attention to the interior, the 1050 Trawler first greets with a central salon located on the deck level and integrated with the cockpit spaces. This is where, on the starboard side, the wheelhouse and galley are located, while, on the opposite broadside, a sofa welcomes guests. Thanks to a system of movable tables, the interior spaces can then be integrated with those in the cockpit, creating a single area between the two.

Saloon

Finally, below deck there are two cabins and a separate toilet. In fact, the master double cabin is located in the bow, while, in the stern, there is a second double cabin. Optionally, a second, single bed can be added to the latter, bringing the total beds to 5.
