Omaya 50: the widest catamaran (15 m) in its class

OMAYA 50 is the new catamaran from the Bulgarian shipyard OMAYA Yachts, part of the Elica Group, an established industrial entity that can boast decades of experience and a leading technical component, being able to rely on top-notch machinery.

A catamaran that makes size its main strength: 15 m in length for a beam of an impressive 8.4. A record-breaking beam in the category, which brings the length-to-width ratio below 1.8, meaning it is even wider than half its length. For a motor catamaran, a boat that was created to offer as much space as possible, the benefits in terms of available volume, both above and below deck, are obvious: let’s see them in detail.

Exteriors

In the bow, the beam width allows two large twin sundecks to be accommodated in front of two living areas with height-adjustable coffee table. All of this open space overlooking the water results in a true beach club, stealing the show from the area traditionally designated to perform this function: the aft cockpit. There, just beyond the sliding doors to the main salon, is a large dining table, overlooking the sea. The aft platform can be raised hydraulically, and can be left clear at cockpit level, like a terrace on the water, or used to wing the tender.

With these dimensions, the flybridge cannot magare, where there is, to the left of the helm station, another large sundeck, behind it, the wet bar and a C-shaped sofa that takes up an entire half of the fly. The whole is sheltered by a hardtop that can be configured, if desired, with photovoltaic panels to improve autonomy.

Interior

The salon is a large open space, with 360-degree windows, entirely dedicated to conviviality, at the expense of navigation, with a main command post relegated to the starboard corner, with visibility reduced by a wide stanchion. Here, we find another L-shaped sofa with its table, which can seat up to 10 people, and a galley, spread across the port side of the salon, stocked for every need.

Below deck, one can choose between two layouts. A symmetrical one with 4 double cabins and 4 private bathrooms (2 per hull), or you can dedicate the entire port hull to the owner, with a cabin preceded by a small private sitting area and a decidedly large bathroom.
