Those who love fast powerboats will certainly know the Otam 58, one of the best-selling models of the Italian boatyard. Today this model makes a leap forward with the 26th unit, the new Otam 58 GTS which is currently under construction and will take the rather evocative name of Bad Boys. Performance, as always for Otam, will be the focus with extreme top speeds – up to 55 knots – thanks to two 1,825 horsepower MTUs with Arneson surface drives and Rolla Otam propellers. Sporty, yes, but also comfortable. How? Let’s see what she looks like in a preview, in anticipation of her debut at Cannes 2022.

The quality of Otam’s projects starts from the experience in the construction techniques where tradition and know-how meet materials suitable to the needs such as aramat and vinylester resin. The 58 GTS, aims to be noticed thanks to her speed-focused also in the restyling by Giuseppe Bagnardi of the Roman BG Design Firm. The bad aspect, however, does not betray the elegance of the OTAM 58 project.
The Otam 58 GTS “Bad boys” will be the 26th unit built by the shipyard and with a name like that, the desire to push the limit to touch the 55 knots of declared top speed, pervades you as soon as you climb on board.
Otam 58 GTS – Deck
In the stern, the design features a large bathing platform. The drain grates located in the transom have been redesigned and are integrated and hidden in the name of the boat.
The semi-open deckhouse with a wrap-around windscreen covers the cockpit and wheelhouse, protecting against wind and weather. At the same time, the aft opening and the side windows allow for an open feeling, i.e. an airy and fresh boat. At the same time it also guarantees a 360° visibility from the bridge around the boat.
Otam 58 GTS – Interior
The Otam 58 GTS Bad Boys is, like all Otams, custom built. This model features two double cabins with private heads, an open space galley and a third single cabin for an extra guest or crew member.
Otam 58 GTS – Hull and propulsion
The hull, which has remained faithful to the Tagliavinil design, plays a fundamental role in obtaining a high feeling of comfort. This new Otam 58 GTS, during the most demanding sailing phases, will be able to effectively tame a couple of MTU 1825HP with ASD14 Arneson surface thrusters The engines are housed in an engine room where ventilation plays a fundamental role and is guaranteed by 4 air intakes, two of which are integrated into the side lines of the foredeck, as typical of OTAM. Thanks to the combination of a high-performance hull and a very powerful propulsion system, the new Otam 58 GTS will have a cruising speed of 48 knots and will exceed 55 knots of top speed
