The Genoese shipyard Otam is celebrating 70 years. To best celebrate the milestone comes a 40-plus knot flagship. The big sports speedboat with a 90s flavor, but given a modern twist. She will make her debut at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival 2024. The premise is of an exceptional sports yacht, just under 24 meters(23.95 yards) long, with three cabins, and top speeds in excess of 40 knots.

Otam 90 GTS

TheOTAM 90 GTS is the new 5,200-horsepower strong sports powerboat. Currently under construction, the new flagship is, in fact, expected in September, ready to be shown off at the OTAM 90 GTS.

The Genoese shipyard, in collaboration with Giuseppe Bagnardi, of BG Design Firm, signs a hull with a custom layout and sleek automotive-inspired design. Full Otam style from the “aggressive look,” but also in performance, given the two MTUs of 2600 horsepower each and Arneson surface propellers to deliver all the power. Ahead of its debut this September in Cannes, here is a preview.

A 24-meter muscular speedboat

When we see a sports car, it is often the air intakes that catch the eye, an element that distinguishes those who make performance a philosophy. Otam’s new 90-footer goes exactly in this direction with air-intakes forward of the windshield and one as well as a snorkel on the hard-top.

Coming to volume and layout, the “docile” side of the GTS also emerges, yes dedicated to performance, but not disdaining comfort. The stern, in fact, immediately welcomes with a large, furnishable bridge, ideal beach area and equipped with a large sofa and access to the tender garage, here capable of accommodating a rib up to 4.35 meters long.

Just beyond, in the cockpit, a lounge area overlooks the stern offering a large sundeck followed by a sofa with opposing backs and equipped with a table. From here you proceed under the sunroofed hard top, equipped with a VIP area and a separate kitchen.

A huge living room, fully furnished with sofas and tables, a lounge and convivial area designed to offer maximum comfort while maintaining a total connection with the surrounding environment, on which to overlook 360 degrees.

Just beyond that, the automotive inspiration mentioned earlier returns in the details. Indeed, just look at the wheelhouse, which is made of carbon fiber and designed with a structure inspired by the “haloes” adopted in Formula 1. What is it all about? These are those elements placed to protect the face and head of the rider. Within this, however, Otam has included an integrated and independent cooling system, dedicated specifically to instrumentation and electronic equipment, which are thus kept at their optimum temperature at all times.

Through wide walkways, however, the cockpit leads to the spacious forward lounge, complete with a large sundeck and an equally large C-shaped sofa, served by a central table. Strengthened by a high degree of customization, however, the OTAM 90 GTS is also available in differentiated versions, e.g. hard top or closed main-saloon.

Otam 90 GTS: Below deck

Shifting, however, our attention below deck, the layout here is also full custom. In this case, the first 90 GTS will offer spaces capable of accommodating its guests in three distinct cabins, developed to maximize comfort but without affecting performance. Three cabins were thus developed taking advantage of the full width of the hull, starting with the full-beam master cabin, followed by a VIP cabin and a third guest cabin.

Again, the customization possibilities are almost endless, including the size and cut of the windows, the arrangement of them, and the size of the volumes, including that of the tender garage.

Propulsion and performance

In terms of performance, the pair of MTU engines with 2600 horsepower each, already installed and running on the model under construction is the absolute star. Instead, transmission will be by Arneson surface propellers, offering top speeds in excess of 40 knots.
