The recent merger between Outer Reef Yachts and Dutch Lynx Yachts marks the beginning of a new chapter for the shipyard: the first fruit of this collaboration is the Outer Reef Adventure 780, a 24-meter-long, 6.75-meter-beam explorer designed to offer large volumes and the ability to reach every sea on the globe in total comfort.
Outer Reef Adventure 780
Featuring a fast displacement hull-the yard’s first yacht to adopt this type of hull-and built entirely of steel, Adventure 780 combines the safety and reliability of Dutch shipbuilding tradition with the comfort typical of Mediterranean yachts. Fin stabilizers and sound-absorbing construction ensure smooth and quiet sailing even in difficult conditions, making it ideal for long-range cruising in remote destinations. Even, in addition to the obvious, for an explorer, unrestricted (Class A) navigation rating, this Outer Reef can be requested to be enabled for navigation in polar waters. Finally, ample fuel capacity (as much as 15 thousand liters) ensures sufficient range for ocean crossings, while advanced docking technology and maneuverability make it accessible even to less experienced owners.
The design of Adventure 780
The hull design is typical of shuttles, with a massive bow that, on the deck, houses the boat’s “technical” area, served by a sturdy crane, where water sports equipment and a tender up to 6 meters in length are housed. But to enjoy long stays at sea, there is no shortage of luxury. The superstructure includes a large galley separate from the salon, which opens onto the cockpit, protected by the flybridge. Below deck, in the bow, as many as two cabins and two bathrooms are dedicated to the crew. The remaining area can be divided into four 2-person cabins or two guest cabins and a large owner’s suite amidships. In any case, all layouts can be customized at the customer’s request.
The Future of Outer Reef
The Outer Reef Adventure 780 is scheduled to make its official debut at boat shows in 2025, and other models are already being developed for the Adventure range, solidifying the brand’s position in the explorer market. As Jeff Druek, President and CEO, says, “Outer Reefs have already undertaken extraordinary voyages to remote places, such as the Great Barrier Reef, the Galapagos Islands, Greenland, Cape Horn, proving their reliability and exploratory capability.”
