The gozzo has always had a special place in the souls of enthusiasts, just as it has a special place among Mediterranean hulls, ubiquitous everywhere along our coast. Today more than ever, however, it is also a versatile and popular hull, strong with iterations and evolutions to suit every need. On this front, there now comes big news, a new flagship for the historic Patrone Moreno shipyard. Measuring 14 meters overall, it can offer up to 6 beds and marries traditional heritage and craftsmanship with contemporary needs and quality. It is the Patrone 45, the new open, cabin cruising gozzo designed by Tommaso Spadolini.
Patrone 45 | Preview
Legacy and tradition aside, the new Patrone 45 is a hull deeply rooted in its time. The elegance of the lines and classic stylistic features are not lost, nor is the craftsmanship, of course, but the project is developed around the needs of today’s shipowners, and the design signed by the Spadolini studio proves it. The new flagship is in fact an open cruiser intended for those who want to enjoy one and more days spent outdoors, with all the conveniences that come with it, but without sacrificing the comfort and usability of the interior. The design thus aims to meet this need. It offers spacious and versatile exteriors, complemented by strong interior volumes with a wide range of customization, now a core philosophy of the Ligurian “boutique.” On this 14-meter vessel there will thus be, as many as 6 variables of interior layouts, ranging from single cabins to double and triple configurations, always with dual services. But let’s take a closer look at the preview.
Exteriors
The new Patrone 45 follows the success of the yard’s previous 10-meter, best-selling Patrone 100. With this in mind, it aims to offer even more than its predecessor, meeting the demands of owners looking for a larger, more “cruiser” hull but, still, elegant and with a classic flavor. Profile and lines thus remain true to the brand’s tradition and goiter heritage, but offer even greater volume, comfort and space.
Starting with the large aft beach, in fact, the yard’s new gozzo offers several sunbathing areas, weather-protected areas and safe passageways, while providing ample convivial space for guests. An early example of this mind-set is found in the large cockpit, which, reflecting the brand’s sartorial attitude, is designed on three different layouts. In the case of the first unit, the cockpit thus accommodates a large C-shaped sofa with a central table that can be lowered, a solution that allows it to be used both as a convivial area for 8 people and as a sundeck (by lowering the table), thus having a second sunbathing area also at the stern, in addition to the one already presented at the bow above the deckhouse.
Just beyond this first convivial space, a double kitchen cabinet is protected by the T-top. Here, depending on the owner’s needs, there may be a refrigerator and/or wine cellar, ice-maker, induction hobs or bbq, as well as a large worktop complete with sink. Outside the two cabinets, a pair of steps leads to the walkways while, centrally, the cockpit continues to the helm station, consisting of an ergonomic bridge and seating system for four.
To conclude the exterior spaces, increasing the versatility of the hull, the T-top provides an extendable awning that can be integrated, thus being able to offer protection to the entire cockpit up to the stern. An additional awning then allows the entire space to be enclosed, making the Patrone 45 a hull that is also suitable for inclement weather or less warm seasons. Finally, the deck is made entirely of eco-teak.
Patrone 45 – Interior and engine room
Then confirming its versatility on the cruising and comfort front, the design continues below deck with versatile interiors that can be adapted to one’s needs. On this front, the shipyard offers six possible configurations, allowing the owner to choose between a single, double or triple cabin. This, however, without ever sacrificing the availability of double bathrooms. The reveal of these combinations, however, will come with the presentation of the hull at upcoming boat shows.
To conclude this preview, a look at the engine room, always an interesting component. Propelling the fiberglass hull will be a pair of Yanmar turbodiesel engines with 440 horsepower each.
