If there is one name that jumps to mind when thinking of the luxury/sports combination, most likely, it is Pershing. Indeed, the shipyard, part of the Ferretti Group, is known for its ability to combine luxury, comfort and performance, resulting in hulls that know how to make their mark. Now, with its reveal at the Cannes boat show, the shipyard is introducing us to a newcomer, the latest addition to the GTX range. It is the Pershing GTX 80, a 23.98-meter designed for those looking for more relaxed cruising, but still not without adrenaline-pumping moments. Three IPS engines of 1,000 horsepower each, up to 34 knots of top speed and almost 300 nautical miles of range in fact make it a cruiser with good numbers, matched by comfort in abundance, well-managed volumes and exceptional exteriors.
Pershing GTX80
To address the newcomer to Pershing, first, a look at the lines. Sporty and clean-cut, with large dark windows to lighten the freeboard, the GTX80 sports a look that is simultaneously dynamic and elegant, graceful through the curvature of the superstructures, where a fly crowns the exteriors, optionally equipped with a hard-top. Consistently, the deck features a tone-on-tone design, with large windows joining interiors and exteriors, culminating in a large beach area complete with folding bulwarks. Add up interior layouts available in different options and up to 4 double cabins, and you have a cruiser willing to adapt to a wide variety of needs, both indoors and en plein air.
Pershing GTX80 – Exterior
Looking at comfort, testifying to the GTX80’s cruising attitude, the large beach area immediately jumps out at you, which, on the strength of the folding bulwarks, presents itself as an ideal place for sun and sea bathing. Given the surface area, in fact, here there is no shortage of space for sun loungers, water toys and relaxation areas, to which the shipyard also optionally adds supports for tenders and waterjets. Just beyond, the cockpit welcomes with a central sofa served by a table and an additional sofa, but the yard also offers different layouts here, with double facing sofas and an outdoor bar top.
For those looking for a more intimate space, or dedicated to sunbathing, the forward lounge comes into play instead, consisting of double facing sofas, complete with center tables for aperitifs and meals. Here, too, the option of converting the whole into a large single sundeck, thus gaining a huge forward solarium.
Of all of them, however, it is perhaps the flybridge that covers the role of convivial space par excellence, available with or without a hard-top but, above all, strong with a large cantilevered sundeck, dining area with sofas and central bar top. There is also, of course, no shortage of secondary wheelhouse, here served by three dedicated ergonomic seats.
Interior
If the exteriors look to comfort and relaxation, no less is the case inside the GTX80, with the main deck, first and foremost, providing an example. Surrounded by glass windows and facing the cockpit, the layout of the main salon is asymmetrical but fluid overall, with spaces that facilitate movement by connecting the distinct areas. Starting from the stern, immediately there is the galley, also facing outward. Opposite, depending on the option chosen, a dining area or a lounge with sofas takes its place.
Just beyond, preceding the helm station, however, is the lounge area, complete with a large sofa and convivial spaces. Here, too, are the entrances to the lower deck, as well as the hatches leading forward.
The sleeping area is first distinguished by a huge midship owner’s suite, a double cabin set across the full beam and complete with lounge area and full facilities. Forward is a second full-beam double, while amidships between the two is a twin cabin and a sitting area. Here, optionally, the parlor can be dispensed with, thus providing space for a fourth double cabin, bringing the number of berths from 6 to 8, excluding the one dedicated to the crew, present, however, in both variants.
Propulsion and Performance
While it is true that the new Pershing GTX80 looks at comfortable cruising, it is also true that, at the same time, it does not deny its guests a good entertainment component. The motorization, in fact, is indeed composed of three Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1350s instead of classic shaft drive, but with 1,000 horsepower per engine, it is still able to offer peak top speeds of 34 knots, with 28 knots as cruising speed. More interesting, however, is the range that the Volvo propulsion can offer: up to 300 nautical miles sailing at speeds of 28 knots. Numbers that fully demonstrate the cruising attitude of this hull.
