A pure walkaround that thinks big. We scouted in the water the brand new IY 43 Veloce, the first motor boat from
Italia Yachts

What the new IY 43 Veloce looks like

Volume, surface, tightness and smooth lines. These are the Fano shipyard’s cornerstones in its first motor project, which is yes an open walkaround boat to be livable outdoors, but also plenty of space below deck. From the outside, the first element that is apparent in modern design is the beam. Italia Yachts’ sailboats, which are going strong in the racing world, are characterized by their lines and significant width. Italia Yachts’ 43 Veloce, which is 14 meters in length overall and 12.5 in what concerns the hull, touches 4 meters in maximum beam. And looking at the stern, imagining the side terraces down, suggests an extremely large footprint.

The solution of resting the side roof pillars on the top of the broadside allows not even an inch of deck space to be sacrificed. The wheelhouse turns out, then, to be quite well protected. We are curious to see her sail, but even the shape of the bow seems designed to keep the whole deck dry. The deck area in front of the sundeck appears quite high on the water. Thus, there is a clear distinction between the area before the dashboard, which is all on one level and very protected, and the area after, which is accessed by well-accented steps.

This allows, however, for a significant increase in interior volume. Indeed, it is no mystery that the shipyard wants to place itself somewhere between a “pure” daytime walkaround and a boat also suitable for short cruising with friends or family. The layout below deck is a choice of three options:

1. Master cabin in the bow and one with twin beds in the stern
2. two double cabins
3. the sole aft master cabin and a living room in the bow
