As is now customary, the first scale models appear at the autumn boat shows. Now, the new Pirelli 50 Tecnorib has made its debut, the flagship of the brand’s walkarounds, which already boasts two best-selling inflatables: the Pirelli 42 and the Pirelli 35. This 50-foot model completes the range by adding the features that made the first two famous.
As with the two previous Ribs, the strong points of this 15-metre craft is the roominess of the deck and the performance. It’s worth pointing out straight away that, just as in the previous projects, the two-stepped hull was designed by the Mannerfelt Design Team. Despite being designed as a day boat or as a superyacht support, given its dimensions, even inside, the new Pirelli 50 is also suitable for medium-range cruises.
“Pirelli 50 – explains Sacs Tecnorib CEO Gianni De Bonis, – is the culmination of a process that has seen the creation of three models in three years, confirming the company’s leadership in Italy and abroad in its reference market, that of the top of the range of tubular boats from 10 to 15 metres”.
Ted Mannerfelt, now head of the Mannerfelt studio, took care of the lines and succeeded in designing a model “that looks fast even when stationary”. How? With taut tubular lines and clean cuts in the deckhouse, softened by the hard-top with a sinuous profile.
As mentioned above, the main goal of the deck plan is to ensure maximum liveability and freedom of movement. Starting from the stern, a sundeck with a pantograph backrest can be used both as a sundeck and as a dining area. Forward we find a dinette with an extendable teak table on both sides. The wet bar/kitchen area, covered by the hard top, has a sink, cooker with two induction burners, three fridges and ice maker. In short, everything you need for a top-notch day at sea.
The black-coloured helm station has three seats, with folding elements to choose the most suitable seat. This whole area has been designed in a raised position in relation to the rest of the deck to increase visibility.
The bow features a second sundeck with two protections at the sides that double as armrests and, opposite, a sofa in the forward section. There are plenty of ample stowage spaces, both forward and aft, which allow you to organize your stay on board in the best possible way.
All the areas of this 15-metre boat are easily accessible via the side walkways. The highlight of this section is the fact that the entire perimeter walkway is protected by the bulwarks. There are two long handrails that are not very visible from the outside, so as not to dirty the line, but are easy to use by those on board.
On-board liveability is one of the strengths. Not only on deck, but also underneath, since this Pirelli is also proposed as a short-range cruiser. The sleeping zone has two double cabins, one double in the bow and one with twin beds in the stern. Large amounts of luggage can be stowed on board thanks to the amount of lockers. This area of the boat is brightened up by the portholes. It is rounded off by a beautifully designed head with toilet, washbasin and an elegant shower.
Performance is essential. And if the hull is an Ocke Mannerfelt design, we can be pretty sure that we won’t be disappointed. After the excellent results achieved with the two previous designs, the new Pirelli 50 Tecnorib raises the bar yet again. Fitted with two Mercury Verado V12 600hp outboards, the new Pirelli 50 reaches 50 knots. Despite this, the yard offers a choice of different engines for a maximum power output of 1,800 hp.
The two-stepped planing hull combines both stability and safety with remarkable top speeds and is designed by Ocke Mannerfelt. The first PIRELLI 50 is powered by a pair of Mercury Verado outboards with 600HP each.
