The Mediterranean Sea, our sea, is in danger. And we can (and must) help him. Let’s relaunch the beautiful initiative of the Sailing Newspaper! Entering the contest is easy, who better to witness the very serious situation of plastic in the sea with a snapshot than you who go boating? Give us a hand!

Medplastic is a project that has been buzzing in our heads for a long time, and now we cannot wait any longer: plastic is killing the Mare Nostrum. it is time to mobilize for the preservation of the Mediterranean by creating a network of people to actively care for it. We must protect it from ourselves: plastic, intensive fishing, toxic waste, rampant ignorance among those who govern us and irresponsible boaters, fishermen, tourists. United we can.

Time to Take Action is the slogan of Medplastic, the Sail Newspaper’s new project to safeguard the Mediterranean. Join the MedPlastic Team Facebook group, participate in the NO Plastic Instagram contest, and learn more about medplastic.org

HERE IS OUR COMMITMENT
1. A large, year-long photo contest called “NO Plastic” on the Sailing Newspaper’s Instagram profile with prize giving at Velafestival 2019 (info in side box). We want to create a community that will be able to discuss issues on the subject.
2. Initiate collaborations with agencies, universities and individuals who have ideas and projects to protect the sea.
3. Actively organize actions to protect, clean and conserve the wonderful sea and the species that inhabit it (we will keep you updated).

But you are needed. Send us photos and reports of litter during your sailing or days at sea: either to the Sailing Newspaper’s Instagram inbox(@giornaledellavela) to participate in the No Plastic contest (below instructions) or on the public Facebook group-which we encourage you to join-MedPlastic Team. A group in which to share not only photodenunciations, but also articles with interesting content, projects, ideas, insights: we will publish the best ones in the Journal of Sailing. If you already have more structured projects in mind, you can write to us at savethemed@gmail.com. www.medplastic.org
