The French school of powerboat sailors is expanding. Or rather, expands the range. Here is Loxo 40, the new 12-meter Pogo that seems born to man-mark, pardon the football metaphor, the JPK 40 Nomad (we told you about it here). Pogo had launched the first Loxo 32 in December 2017. The announcement of this new model is intriguing especially because of the fuel efficiency that the 32 had and that the 40 will surely try to maintain.

Loxo 40

Somewhere between a cruiser and a day boat, the Loxo 40 continues the concept of the Loxo 32, the first non-sailing Pogo. The point of this new 12-meter is to offer livable interior and exterior spaces just like on a sailboat that often also functions as a home on the water, that is, a hull suitable for even long periods aboard. So there are up to six berths, a central salon with galley, and a sheltered aft cockpit. The all-pontooned bow, on the other hand, will be your sundeck.

Interior Pogo Loxo

Of course, speed is not among the prerogatives of this unit, which is content with a top speed between 19 and 25 knots, depending on the engine, with a 480-liter (diesel) tank and 285 liters of fresh water. The first one is already under construction and, as was the case with the JPK 40, we are curious to get on board to see how it performs.

Interior salon

A food for thought on fuel consumption comes from its smaller brother, the Loxo 32. Optimized for a cruising speed of 10 to 15 knots, in trials it had shown that it could consume about 0.5 liters per nautical mile. Really low numbers for such a vehicle.
