Mastervolt, a Dutch brand distributed in Italy by Power Group, offers a complete range of solutions dedicated to on-board power generation, distribution and control. All devices communicate with each other via the exclusive MasterBus system, offering immediate management and monitoring.

Power Group, that is: 30 years of excellence in marine power electronics

Formerly known as Mastervolt Italy, Power Group is distinguished by quality products, sales service, timely support and efficient logistics.

Founded in 1994, Power Group was established under a different name by the partnership of the three founding partners Diego Volpi, Susanna Baccili and Sergio Monfardini. Initially employed in areas as diverse as sailing and racing boats, the company took a decisive path with the beginning of its collaboration with Mastervolt at the 1996 Genoa Boat Show. Since then, it began a path of growth and specialization that would lead the company to become a point of reference in Italy for power electronics in the boating industry, eventually transforming into what it is today: a qualified multi-brand distributor.

The Mastervolt franchise

When the company began its partnership with Mastervolt in 1996, it was starting from scratch, competing with other brands on the market. Mastervolt at that time was a Dutch brand known for the high quality of its products, but still little known in the Italian market. Over time Mastervolt Italia (this was the name of what was in fact a franchise of the Dutch company) worked intensively together with the parent company on the definition of pricing policies more appropriate to the Italian market, fortifying its presence through product quality, but above all thanks to a timely sales and service, and efficient logistics that allowed for high inventories. The team of founding partners, with technical and commercial skills acquired in companies in the sector, operated from the outset with a clear vision: not only to sell products, but to guarantee high-level assistance and advice, even during the busiest periods. This approach has allowed them to consolidate trusted relationships with construction sites, installers and aftermarket operators, growing a widespread network of satisfied customers.

The evolution Power Group

As the market evolves and customer needs diversify, Mastervolt Italy decided in 2021 to transform itself into the distributor of multiple brands, but keeping Mastervolt (which has since passed under Navico to Brunswick Group) as its main strength. Today the company distributes fifteen of the most popular brands of in-vehicle electronics, including Blue Sea, Fischer Panda, and, thanks to Navico, B&G and Simrad. The core business continues to be power electronics: battery chargers, inverters, and key components for the onboard electrical system. While battery chargers remain the flagship product, especially in the high power range required by large boats produced in Italy (20 meters and up), special attention is given to reliability and more competitive pricing than in the past. In fact, the Italian market stands out for specific needs compared to Northern Europe, with important demands for robust and high-performance equipment, also considering the different sizes of boats produced. Recent years have also seen a growing adoption of CombiMasters, innovative and increasingly sophisticated battery charger-inverters, which integrate load management functions and allow for weight and space optimization. These features are enjoying great success, especially abroad, but are climbing rapidly in Italy as well.

CZone is a digital platform for on-board power management and distribution. Designed for ease of use in the marine environment, it makes wiring easier, offers great flexibility, and is compatible with all navigation systems.

The new lithium batteries

A major chapter is that of lithium batteries, introduced early by Mastervolt and distributed by Power Group. These batteries, which are controlled via MasterBus and can be monitored in real time via USB, offer high safety and durability, thanks to the use of ferrophosphate chemistry, which is more stable and less prone to maintenance issues or fires than other technologies. Digitization and connectivity are key pillars of the company: in fact, they allow access to remote assistance and open up new scenarios for after-sales services, considered the real added value for the future, but already appreciated in the present. Not limiting itself to the nautical sector, for some years now Power Group has also extended its presence in the automotive sector, collaborating with important outfitters of special heavy vehicles. This expansion confirms the company’s ability to adapt to new markets while maintaining a precise and highly specialized technological focus.

Integrel offers a hybrid solution for power generation, eliminating the need for the diesel generator. It enables sailing in electric mode by taking advantage of advanced technologies, which are also easily retrofitted.

The challenges of the future

Power Group has a history of success that rests on a few firm pillars: quality, service and innovation. The company continues to work to ensure timely service, high inventories, and a direct line to manufacturers to proactively influence product evolution and meet market needs. The future will certainly see an expansion into hybrid systems and more integrated solutions, as well as growth in the area of digitization and in-vehicle home automation. Power Group sees as its main challenge the ability to integrate products and services, following the green and increasingly sustainable transformation of boating. Mastervolt, a long-standing partner, has already anticipated many of these trends, with green products, state-of-the-art generators, and hybrid systems such as “Integrel,” which allow traditional engines to be converted into hybrids, producing power without using diesel generators.
