Carefree mooring at participating ports: you arrive and stay as long as you want. This is the winning formula of the Med Pass Port, a card that once purchased will allow its holders to moor at the Apulian marinas of Vieste and Rodi Garganico (to which others are expected to be added).

A demo of what the Med Pass Port card should look like

How the Med Pass Port works

Having the boat always in the same port, perhaps close to home, on the one hand is convenient, on the other hand it is constraining. And for those who then make a weekly charter, the freedom of movement is a great advantage. Porti di Puglia is a project of Assonautica italiana born out of an agreement with the Puglia region. It is a kind of ski-pass in which the facilities are represented by the ports. Yes where you enter with a single annual or weekly contract that offers a range of discounted services on multiple marinas.

Apulia wants boaters and builds system

If a yachtsman has that card, he can move freely among participating ports with total peace of mind. Thus, having ports coordinated with each other and with all that the territory of Apulia (including on land) has to offer. The move also aims to compete with neighboring Croatia, creating a win-win situation for boaters here in Italy. A port system, if everything is well coordinated, is certainly inviting in many ways.

In this regard, for those who spent the summer of 2019 in Croatia, there is a 20% discount on the transit list. The project as of now is in the experimental phase in the ports of Vieste and Rodi Garganico, but the goal is to extend to other Apulian marinas as well. Should “the experiment” bear fruit, the “Ports of Puglia” system could then be taken up by others.
