Electric, thus low-polluting, and flying: could this be a stepping stone to the future? It’s hard to say for sure now, what is certain is that the Slovenians at Quadrofoil seem to be serious and the start of the Quadrofoil Q2S series is imminent, an innovative vehicle that represents an interesting breath of fresh air in the powerboat world.
Quadrofil’s Q2S will in fact be equipped with four appendages, the foils in fact, capable of making it lift completely out of the water and an electric motor. On one boat two of the most important targets demanded of modern boats: performance and low environmental impact.
The Q2S is a two-seater and can reach a speed of 20 knots. However, its achilles heel seems at present to be battery life, claimed in 2 hours, compared to the 4 hours needed to charge it. On these standards at the moment it can be considered in the sphere of “tenders” or support boats.
