Quick Group, which is everything your boat needs

The story of an Italian company that from Ravennate has become an international giant with over 400 employees and a “full line” range unique in the industry.

The origins of what is now called Quick Group go back to 1982, when Michele Marzucco began his entrepreneurial adventure in one of the most active boating districts at the time, the Forlì area. “It was a great experience, a university basically, where I learned about boats, equipment and everything on board a boat, both sail and motor.” The company, founded in 1982 together with a partner under the name PM Marina, began as a craft business specializing in rig installations, then evolved in 1992 into the Quick we know today, whose brand name it acquired. Since the early years, Quick Group ‘s growth path has been characterized by a strategy of targeted acquisitions. “We made numerous acquisitions, always deciding to manage everything and-when appropriate-do it again from scratch,” Marzucco explains. “We acquired companies with an important product, but with which the installer often had difficulty. Our experience as installers helped us in later designing products. Our mentality was always that of the installer. The product very often fitted the wrong way because it was designed the wrong way. We would put our heads there to try to create the conditions for the installer not to get the installation wrong.” An approach that has made a difference in an industry where “if you make things simple you will have fewer problems, if you make things complicated you will have problems.”

The recent history of Quick

Two important milestones in Quick‘s growth, in addition to the acquisitions, have been the opening of the office in the United States (dated 2006) and the more recent one in the United Kingdom, dated 2018, a year that also saw the entry of Michele’s children, Carlo and Chiara, into the company. The most recent evolution has seen the entry of Fondo Italiano d’Investimento and Armònia SGR into Quick‘s capital, with the arrival of Stefano Lenarduzzi, a manager with experience gained in high-technology complexity sectors, as managing director of the Group. “I got on a running boat,” Lenarduzzi recounts with effective metaphor. “which has already come a long way and some very interesting things. Today the direction is to synergistically stabilize on the one hand the acquisitions made (the most recent in 2023: Sanguineti, Xenta and Nemo, ed.), on the other hand Quick’s presence in different markets, rationalizing the production system with a view to increasing quality and competitiveness.”

Quick Group’s MC2 stabilization system covers most boats on the market, from the smallest (with the Quick Gyro X2 DC model) to the largest (with the Quick Gyro X75 AC model), for both Gyro gyro systems, Viators Fins covering boats from 15.20 to 46 meters, and Intercepta Trim Tabs intruders from 6 to 24 meters. 4. X-Dock is the system from Xenta-part of Quick Group-that brought joystick maneuvering to boating.

Watchword: integration

A distinctive aspect of the Quick approach is the ability to integrate and simplify complex technologies. “The goal is to synergistically manage all the technologies that are on board the boat through our simple and intuitive interface.” Lenarduzzi emphasizes: “The advantage is twofold, for the shipyard and for the customer: the interlocutor is one and it is Quick, but behind it is the whole galaxy of companies in the group. Those who previously had multiple suppliers can now find a single supplier that meets many of their needs in a professional and logistically convenient way.” . One example out of all is the MC2-branded stabilization range, because the company is the only one to combine all three product types: gyro stabilizers, fin stabilizers, and intruders.

From top left clockwise: Quick Marine Lighting is the division of the group that deals with onboard lighting: exterior, interior, underwater lights and related control systems; Nemo, also part of Quick Group since 2023, produces a wide range of accessories from skylights to sliding doors; Quick Nautical Equipment’s range of accessories also includes anchors, such as the new polished or satin Olympic.

A very wide range

Quick Group ‘s competitive strength lies in the breadth of its range. “In the world of component manufacturers, few have a full-line range like ours,” Lenarduzzi points out. From the anchor windlass that sells “tens of thousands of pieces a year” to the latest generation of stabilizers, from underwater lights to sliding doors for superyachts and high-performance anchors. Today Quick Group has more than 400 direct employees among its various locations, plus a network of collaborators and partners. Global projection was an early strategic choice. “Abroad we do distribution and technical support, capillary in the US since 2006 and in the UK since 2018,” Marzucco says. “We realized early on that giving this service to construction sites is an extra quid.” The insight proved successful: “Everyone has problems with after-sales service in such distant markets. Finding companies willing and ready to respond to the first problem is complicated. We are on the spot.” .
