How to make a naturally silent engine also invisible? This is what RAD Propulsion ‘s designers must have been thinking about when they began development of the new RAD 40.

RAD 40 – Rotary steering and 55 hp equivalent power

Unveiled last November at the METSTRADE Show in Amsterdam, the world’s largest B-to-B exhibition for marine equipment, this new 40kW (equivalent to 55 hp) electric motor is not only extremely compact but also has a rotating foot. This feature, which we have already seen on much larger and more powerful endothermic outboard engines, gives the engine incredible maneuverability, especially at mooring, being able to rotate the engine foot 180° (+90° to starboard and port). In addition, electronic control of the drive-by-wire wheelhouse automatically maintains a precise GPS position (virtual anchor), even in wind and current. Equipped with a 400V architecture, it is prepared for rapid charging, such as that of automobiles. It is priced at about 35,000 euros.
