The DĂĽsseldorf Boot is not yet over that people are already starting to talk about the boats that will be presented to the public at the fall shows. Among them, Rio Yachts, a historic brand that just in 2026 celebrates 65 years in business, announces its new Sport Coupe 50. A 15-meter defined by the shipyard as a “World Boat,” designed to sail anywhere, from the heat of the tropics to the cold of Northern Europe, without compromise.

The design, once again signed by Marino Alfani, echoes the more geometric and angular lines of the latest Rio Yachts, especially in the superstructure. The latter is precisely the key to the design, which responds to the demand for a salon that is truly livable all year round. The large side windows are in fact electric and fully openable, as are the aft door and to the slatted roof (standard).

A “four seasons” boat

In this way, the boat changes its face in a matter of seconds, going from an enclosed and protected environment that can be heated for winter or air conditioned for summer to little more than a hard top with a high windshield. A true “four seasons” of the sea, which does not give up a line that is nonetheless sporty and streamlined.

Below deck, the layout takes full advantage of the 15.24-meter length. We find three cabins: the midship owner’s cabin, with en-suite bathroom and separate shower, the VIP forward with an open bathroom, and a third double with bunk beds, which can become a sailor cabin with separate access upon request.

Reliability and functionality, the watchwords of a cruiser

In the engine room, Rio Yachts doesn’t follow fads but substance, confirming a technical choice popular with more traditionalist owners: the shaftline transmission. Two Cummins (600 hp in the standard version, which can be increased to 715 as an option) push the Rio Sport Coupe 50 up to an estimated top speed of 35 knots. Rounding out the package is an aft garage that can be equipped for a hydrojet tender.

In short, there are those who use the boat only in August and those who would like to live on it year-round, and Rio Yachts is aiming precisely at the latter category. For more updates, visit the shipyard’s website at this link.
