Roberto Cavalli’s yachts never go unnoticed. Among them, the 41-metre RC chromed Baglietto has often appeared in the yachting and gossip pages of the last 20 years, thanks also to the circle of VIP guests who were often on board such as John Travolta, Sharon Stone, Andrea Bocelli and many others.
But now it’s time for a new yacht. One to use in the family with few underwear. This is how the new M/Y Freedom of 28 meters was born, which in common with her predecessor, the designer: the great Tommaso Spadolini. The construction has been entrusted to Cerri Cantieri Navali and is the third model in the “Fuoriserie” collection for full custom projects.
“Make me a boat that Batman would like to helm.” With these words Roberto Cavalli summarized to his friend Tommaso Spadolini the type of yacht he would have liked. A yacht easy to steer, that had style in the lines and guaranteed privacy in a couple cruise (without forgetting the two dogs, Lupo and Lapo).
The length at the waterline is therefore below 24 meters, so that even Roberto’s license can steer it. Freedom is very powerful and equipped with three MAN engines coupled to three KaMeWa water jets. With this engine it reaches 40 knots in peace, also for the light construction that uses aluminum and carbon fiber.
Curiosities:
A raised owner’s suite aft of the wheelhouse – a first on a yacht of this size – where you can breathe the sea air and enjoy a breathtaking view. The key aspect of the project was to create a very comfortable space, with a few steps, natural light and ventilation and a complete view of the sea. That’s why the cabin is behind the wheelhouse. Roberto also likes to work alone. Another important feature is the private fly deck, as well as the large kitchen/dining room and the comfortable crew quarters on the lower deck.
Interior design? Roberto Cavalli personally selected all the materials, finishes and accessories. Cavalli was supervised by the attentive eye of Tommaso Spadolini, an expert in the field. The choice fell on African animal prints for the upholstery, cushions and bedspreads: the same theme of different fashion collections of the designer. As a passionate photographer, Cavalli’s panoramic photos complete the picture.
