More than 250 kw of power at 450 volts (equivalent of 340 horsepower), as much as 83 kwh of capacity, and a cell of liquid
fireproof
to coat it: it is the new heavy-duty battery from Sealence, the SAFE-Li .
Sealence SAFE-Li
We are back to talking about batteries and electric powertrains, and in this case we address a not insignificant issue: performance and safety. And in the case of SAFE-Li, the numbers would seem to fully satisfy both themes.
Sustainable propulsion seems to be finally starting to take hold in the boating world as well, but many concerns remain, however, that we often hear about. Will it perform well enough? What about in terms of security? Well, the market is now beginning to offer Wide ranges of products that fully meet the requirements. And increasingly there is evidence of this, as in the case of boats that are as high-performance as they are fully electric, or of Zero-emission water sports. But for recreational, for boats as commonly understood? Well, even here, for the most skeptical, there are still very impressive solutions. And it starts with batteries, the centerpiece of electric mobility.
Sealence SAFE-Li – Performance & Safety
And to address the issue, an excellent example is provided by Sealence, with the heavy-duty lithium-cobalt SAFE-Li battery. In short, we are talking about what is perhaps the battery most balanced on the market. In fact, not only enviable performance, but also the best positioning in terms of power-to-weight ratio due to its small size (900x800x600) and at the weight of only 550kg. More importantly, it is immersed in a liquid
fireproof
which prevents the possible propagation of damage between cells, thus preventing the triggering of potential uncontrollable reactions.
Finally, being designed for intensive use on boats between 12 and 18 meters, SAFE-Li is equipped with of intelligent software algorithms governed by a proprietary BMS (Battery Management System). To wit, is able to transmit information to the user’s devices and receive software updates via OTA anywhere in the world.
Overall, a remarkable battery, and one that finally allows one to hope for the sustainable development of power units intended for the boating world as well.
