In Düsseldorf we saw many previews and famous models, but the German boat show is also a meeting point for many lesser-known shipyards that may hold interesting surprises. A nice discovery was Sancak Yachts, a Turkish shipyard that brought, among others, its entry model to the range: SVT 6.50.
Sancak SVT 6.50
As its name implies, SVT 6.50 is a pilot boat just 6.5 meters long, 2.50 wide, in which the shipyard has managed to put everything it needs for a craft capable of tackling all kinds of outings. A perfect example of a hybrid boat, understood not in terms of motorization but in terms of equipment: usable both for fishing trips, the typical target of pilot boats, and for family outings, with a truly rich set of accessories.
A sporty look
While the layout is classic pilot boat, the design is modern, with geometric lines on the hull, full glazing of the superstructure, and a sloping canopy that gives her a sporty look. The bow is easy to reach via the two walkways well protected by handrails. But it is in the stern where SVT 6.50 stands out. The L-shaped sofa seats abreast of the transom can be folded down to flush with the broadside, completely freeing up the cockpit, a key feature on fishing trips, or, it can be set up as a dinette, with a mountable table in the center, to have an outdoor dining area when with family or friends.
What it looks like inside
The aft cockpit can form a single room with the interior of the pilot house, or, the latter can be completely sealed via a sliding glass window, in case of winter uses. Inside, despite its size, we manage to find a very small dinette, with the coffee table that can lower flush with the seats to become a single sofa. On the starboard side, under the pilot’s seat, is a small galley. In the bow, the classic berth comes with a separate bathroom, a feature more unique than rare on this size.
Sancak SVT 6.50 How much does it cost?
Sancak SVT 6.50 costs €69,477, an all in all attractive price for all it manages to offer while remaining so compact. Is all that glitters gold? Unfortunately, we have no details on the available engines, other than that they are outboard. Aft, the deadrise is quite modest, probably to be able to install even moderate power against a non-trivial displacement, but justified by everything we find installed on board. The quality is also good, although we would have liked to see a few less edges. In short, there is still a way to go but the direction is promising.
