At Boot Düsseldorf, we had the opportunity to board two different versions of the new Saxdor 270 GTO, the hard-top and the soft-top. It is not only a question of cockpit coverage, but also a question of layout. That is, the two versions also differ in deck layout, with important variations from boat to boat.

Saxdor 270 GTO – Hard-top Vs soft-top

Let’s start with a general introduction. Saxdors are generally quite fast hulls powered by outboards. Purpose of the site and its founder Sakari Mattila? Making the boat for everyone, both in terms of usability and price.

The two versions of the Saxdor 270 GTO ranged as a starting point between 75 and 80 thousand euros. To give a reference, the price of the hard-top version displayed at the show complete with engine and accessories (with VAT excluded, as well as transportation and rigging), was €131,224. Options in this case included double sofa seating with sundeck, running water and toilet package, built-in refrigerator, and bow anchor winch.

In short, an attractive figure for an 8.45-meter open equipped with a cabin and capable of touching 43 knots. All while maintaining carriageability and thus interesting versatility of use.

Returning to the differences between the two models, the main one is that concerning the cockpit. In one version we find a wet-bar and then a series of seats with a central table that do not allow for a sundeck, which, in fact, is present only in the bow. The advantage, however, is a nice dining table and especially a full kitchen where you can prepare food (including refrigerator, etc.). On the other hand, we have a different approach. A large aft sundeck with fold-down backrests so each area can be transformed as needed. The dashboard, below-deck space, and bow remain the same.
