Saxdor 400 GTC is the 12-meter cabin boat, a new version of the
400 GTO (open)
from the Finnish shipyard. It debuts at the
Düsseldorf Boat Show 2024 from January 20 to 28.
and goes to satisfy that segment of the public that is looking for a closed boat, suitable for living at sea 365 days a year, but that is also sporty and at a “reasonable” figure.

Saxdor 400 GTC

If we combine lower-than-average prices, boats with “trendy” designs and lots of horsepower in the stern we get a very appealing formula. Saxdor, a now world-famous Nordic shipyard, is emblematic of this approach.

How much does it cost? It is not yet known precisely. We can say, however, that its twin, the Saxdor 400 GTO, has a starting price of 233,000(with 2 300-horsepower Mercury V8s). The source? Saxdor’s website!

Of course, one must then add then possibly VAT, adjuncts (other applicable taxes, transportation and handling fees), but the figure is basically very palatable.

Saxdor 400 GTC and the central layout. Modular aft cockpit, folding sidewalls and large windows

The cab version, 400 GTC, is likely to cost a little more. Basically compared to the “open” version, it changes the layout of the deck, which can be closed 360°. At the stern, a glass door provides access to the cockpit with wide side terraces that, however, also reach further forward. The furniture is thus clearly modular. In the bow, a second cockpit with a small table provides good privacy.

First impressions of the new Saxdor 400

There are, given the presence of a 360-degree closure around the central area, no external walkways. Therefore, it needs to be understood in person how the windows are handled and whether, for example, the movement from bow to stern is smooth. Likewise though the side bollards are easily accessible. We imagined ourselves at the berth having to get the stern to the bow, and certainly this point needs to be clarified.

At the same time, since the whole dashboard/salon, is closed, it should be understood to the full how the windows are arranged to avoid the “greenhouse” effect in summer. The solutions, however, from the previews seem to be there.

The cabins of this 12-meter powerboat

Below deck you go via two separate staircases. There is a double cabin in the bow, and the other double cabin is amidships. In addition, it is even possible to add a third bunk for children.
