If the Scanner Envy 1200 Inboard had achieved excellent results, the outboard version is perhaps destined to surpass it. Aesthetically speaking, the stern with the three Mercury 450 Racing outboards already convinces the eye, creating a nice balance in the line of this 12-metre Rib. Let us now see this Scanner Envy 1200 Outboard in detail.
Scanner Envy 1200 Outboard
Just a year ago the Scanner Envy 1200 made its debut at the Venice Boat Show, and with its soft but gritty lines it had managed to garner good success. Now the latest maxi-rib created by the Italian Scanner yard, 12 metres long and 4 metres wide, continues its evolution, presenting itself with three 450 hp Mercury Racing outboards. The new Scanner 1200 Envy outboard is designed as a dayboat, but the presence of a cabin below deck makes it also suitable for a couple wishing to set out on a longer trip.
Of course, we are not dealing with a pure cruiser, but with a versatile weekender. When talking about “Made in Italy” it is important to emphasize that Scanner is a company that does everything in-house, from design to construction . This also allows a high degree of customisation, guaranteeing the customer maximum personalisation of colours, materials, layouts and engines.
Scanner Envy 1200 Outboard – Deck
The deck plan again features a walkaround layout with a central cabinet acting as a wetbar with a cooker, sink and fridge on one side and a helm station on the other. At the stern, the platform is clearly less usable than the inboard version, but two side decks allow easy access to the water just the same.
Proceeding forward we find the first sundeck, which is equipped with a transformable backrest that completes the cockpit and allows up to eight people to be seated during meals. As mentioned above, the walkaround layout makes it easy to move around on board. In the bow area, a rather large sunbathing area prevails that is more open to the sea.
The cockpit is protected by raised sides for safety. The deck can be covered with natural teak or synthetic teak. The hard top covers this 12-metre dinghy to protect the entire deck, but it is also possible to have the T-Top version.
Scanner Envy 1200 Outboard – Lower Deck
To the left of the helm console are the stairs leading below deck. Immediately there is a hallway with a sofa, a head with a separate shower stall and a king-size bed in the bow.
Scanner Envy 1200 Outboard – Propulsion
Like the 1200 Envy inboard model, the outboard version shares the variable geometry hull with a deep V in the bow section. Maximum power is up to 1500hp, and the outboard version we report on today is equipped with three Mercury R450 outboards.
