The electric rib that speaks Italian. The Italian shipyard Scanner has decided to make available its Scanner Envy 710 for an Italian start-up, Deep Speed, specialized in electric propulsion. Due to the size of the rib, the electric configuration will be designed primarily as a tender, but also the “pleasure boat” option is not to be excluded.

In this case, however, it will be necessary to properly assess the autonomy management: launched at 25 knots this rib will have a range of about an hour and a half of navigation.

This configuration will debut on the market in 2021, after the preliminary tests.

The electric motor of the Envy 710 Scanner

The DeepSpeed engine installed onboard the Scanner Envy 710, will be an outboard with jet propulsion. Engine and propulsion systems are integrated with direct water operation. The engine is powered by electric energy which, together with the propulsion system, will include electronics, a battery pack, and dedicated software.

In horsepower, this engine corresponds to about 260 horsepower. As we anticipated before, at 25 knots the Scanner Envy 710 will have a range of about one and a half hours of navigation.

Scanner Envy 710: a cult rib

Since 2006 there has been a lot of water under the hulls of the Scanner Envy 710, a very successful model.  Still today it is among the best, thanks to the revisions that are made to be in step with the times.

This rib came out of the hand of designer Donato Montemitro. In 2017 it underwent a further restyling. In the classic version, it can be both inboard and outboard. From 2021 it will be also 100% electric, thanks to Deep-Speed collaboration.

Layout

The configuration includes a central console with a single-seat, which leaves space for the aft area characterized by a U-shaped sofa and space for the two passageways that allow access to the forward solarium. The dinette is provided on the bow using the sundeck floor, with the possibility of customization. For example, the aft area can change according to whether you choose an inboard or outboard motorisation. In this case, two side decks will be replaced at the stern beach.
