The scepter of the world’s largest outboard boat in 2024 is preparing to change hands. The record, now held by the
65-foot Estrella by HCB
, will in fact go to Scout Boats‘ new 20.35-meter-long 670 LX Series.

Take a boatyard with 100 percent American DNA that specializes in center-console and fishing/luxury cross-overs and put them with
600hp V12 outboards
like those launched by Mercury. The temptation to make it big is certainly strong. If a designer of Harrison Eidsgaard ‘s caliber for interiors and exteriors is then involved in the project, all that is left is to sit back and enjoy the show.

A child of outboard-mania, a phenomenon that is now more than well-established, the new Scout is a hull that, it has to be said, wants to set the standard among sport fishermen and luxury express cruisers by drawing on the universe of superyachts.

The new Scout 670 LX promises to be the largest outboard-powered yacht in the world and will be made in three different versions:

  • the 670 LXF (Luxury Fish Model)
  • the 670 LXS (Luxury Sport Model)
  • 670 LXC (Luxury Cruiser Model)

All three variants of the 67 LX series will be equipped with five engines
600-hp Mercury V-12
, with an output of 3,000 hp. The maximum speed is expected to be over 50 knots with a fast cruising speed of about 35 knots and a range of about 500 miles.

This yacht, the shipyard’s future flagship, however futuristic, does not come from nowhere. Of the brand’s current flagship, the 530 LXF, introduced about five years ago, 75 units have already been sold, and the goal now is to raise the bar.

Between fisherman and superyacht

On the one hand, there is the experience of the Scout shipyard, a well-known American manufacturer of sport fishing boats. On the other is the vision of Harrison Eidsgaard, who draws heavily from the world of superyachts to bring top-of-the-line finishes to this 20-meter vessel.

The 670 LX Series project has been referred to internally by Scout as “Project Everest” since its inception in 2021. And, indeed, there is some climbing to do to get such a craft up and running in every aspect. The first is expected to arrive by March 2024, while full production is expected to start in the second quarter of 2024.

From stern to bow there is a single walkway surrounding the boat, as is to be expected on a fishing boat. Of course, though, looking at the bow sundeck or the stern with the fold-down broadside also makes you want to leave a few hours for some relaxation. There is certainly no shortage of space to relax or convivial areas.

Scout 670 LX – Interior and cabins

Going below deck we find space for six people with the master cabin in the bow (with private bathroom), the VIP guest cabin to port and a double on the starboard side.

The 8 powerboats that made Wally’s history

In boating, there is a “before” and an “after” Wally because the brand founded in 1994 changed the world of boats forever. In this case the insight, or rather the vision, bears the name of Luca Bassani. 30 years ago,
