How roll aboard a boat goes, with and without stabilizer – VIDEO

Seakeeper – How a gyroscopic stabilizer works

The gyroscopic stabilizers produced by Seakeeper can eliminate up to 70% of the roll by boat. At the center of the system is a sphere, inside of which is a vacuum flywheel that can achieve more than 9,700 revolutions per minute. An electronic system reads the boat’s roll, after which it tilts back and forth produces a gyroscopic torque opposite to the force to be resisted. Comfort and sailing performance can only benefit from the installation of these systems, both when sailing and when stationary.

How much does it consume and on which boats can it be installed

The gyro stabilizer can be had on virtually any boat, whether new or used, with a minimally invasive installation. Electricity consumption is low, and the stabilization system can be controlled intuitively from the touch screen control panel that can be installed on the dashboard. Seakeeper systems are diverse and are suitable for vessels between 23 feet (about 7 meters) and more than 85 feet (over 25 meters) in length.

For those interested in trying out the system during the Summer Demo Tour 2023, please remember to contact the organizers: here is the information. For more information about the system itself, on the other hand, visit the manufacturer’s website.
