Sergio Perez in E1 Series, here’s the latest news from thehighly anticipated sprint championship on water, raced on zero-emission foil motorboats. Structured on sustainable models and formats worthy of major motorsport events, E1 Series will debut in 2023 with as many as 12 teams on the starting line.
And if the President and Co-founder is Alejandro Agag, former patron of Formula E, the arrival of Sergio Perez as Team Owner only underscores how much attention the E1 Series is managing to attract to itself. Which obviously bodes well for the many fans that the announcement of the championship alone has already managed to attract.
The Red Bull driver will participate as
Team Owner
in the inaugural season of this brand new championship, and will wear the colors of his country, in fact presenting with Team Mexico. As well as
“extremely excited about the idea of participating”
the F1 driver also says he is interested in thesustainable, research-based approach of the entire initiative. Teams and drivers will in fact compete with
RaceBird,
a race boat powered by 100 percent electricity and using Hydrofoil technology, a solution that lifts the hull out of the water to reduce hydrodynamic drag.
In short, big names and a lot of attention for the first and highly anticipated inaugural season of the E1 – UIM World Championship, a series that overall also promises to be a pioneer in the experimentation and testing of sustainable marine solutions.
